WPQR (Welding Procedure Specification)

WPQR ( Welding Procedure Qualification Record), with its Turkish equivalent Source ProceduresIt consists of a series of tests and checks performed to verify the accuracy of the source method used, evaluate mechanical properties that cannot be tested in practice, and report the results.

If the tests yield positive results, the values obtained during the preparation of the PQR (WPAR) shall be used as a basis. Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) are created and used in applications.

The most commonly used standard when preparing the source procedure EN ISO 15614 – Specification and qualification of welding procedures for metallic materials standardıdır. Bunun yanında ASME IX, AWS D1.1 ve AWS D1.2 standards are also frequently preferred in the industry.

The process in welding procedure tests, known as PQR (Procedure Qualification Record) or WPAR (Welding Procedure Approval Record), proceeds as follows:

  1. Pre-Welding Procedure Specification (pWPS) is prepared. At this stage, previous experience and recommendations from consumable material manufacturers can be utilized.
  2. The welding process is performed based on the values specified in pWPS. Parameters such as voltage, amperage, and duration are recorded during welding.
  3. The finished weld is subjected to the mechanical and destructive/non-destructive tests required by the relevant standard.
  4. Methods that pass the tests successfully are reported, and the PQR is completed.
